I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved ~John 10:9

Tragedy and the Work of Christ

Recent events have reminded us that we live in a fallen world, filled with unspeakable wickedness.  How do we cope in such a world? How should the Christian respond to the evil deeds of evil men? What do we say to the questions that the world asks? In John 11:1-44 we see the response of our Lord in the midst of a tragic event, the death of a dear friend Lazarus. What Jesus teaches his people is that He is the resurrection and the life. We have hope because of Jesus. What Jesus does is display his power over death. This was a foreshadow of the even greater work he was going to do on the cross and in his own resurrection.  Jesus defeated sin and death at the cross. Our hope is not found in the changing of laws, or the work of men. Our hope as Christians is in the work of Jesus Christ.
